What Does a Typical Visit Look Like?

When you visit a ClearChoiceMD center, you will be greeted by one of our dedicated team members in the reception area. Once checked in, a board-certified provider will assess, diagnose, and treat your non-life-threatening injury or illness.

They will prescribe and provide you with medication and follow-up or after-care recommendations if needed.

Who Does ClearChoiceMD Treat?

ClearChoiceMD centers and staff are equipped and ready to treat patients of all ages.

Whether you’re an adult with a sore throat, a child with a broken bone, or a teenager needing a sports physical, our board-certified providers are ready to help. We also provide high-quality urgent care to infants aged six months and older.

ClearChoiceMD providers either have a background in emergency or family medicine, ensuring they are well-rounded and experienced in treating individuals of all ages.

Why Should I Visit an Urgent Care Center Instead of an Emergency Room?

Urgent care is different from emergency care—an emergency is a life-threatening event, like a heart attack, stroke, or serious car crash.

If you’re facing one of those scenarios, please call 9-1-1 or go to your nearest emergency room.

If you have a non-life-threatening but urgent need for medical care, however, an emergency room may not be the best option. Emergency rooms are often overcrowded with patients who, through no fault of their own, either do not have a primary care provider or cannot see their provider for an acute visit. What’s more, emergency room physicians must prioritize those with severe or life-threatening injuries or illnesses.

For these reasons and more, those with urgent but non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses should opt for an urgent care center like ClearChoiceMD.

Seeking medical care and treatment in an urgent care center is faster, more accessible, and far less expensive than a hospital emergency room visit.

For example, at ClearChoiceMD, an ankle X-ray  is $80 plus the cost of the initial visit (approximately $160). At the hospital, it could be as much as $500.

Can ClearChoiceMD Replace My Primary Care Provider?

ClearChoiceMD is an excellent option if you need to be seen sooner than your regular doctor can see you. However, urgent care is not meant to replace your ongoing relationship with your regular or primary care provider.

Urgent care is best for treating episodic illness and injury. Your primary care doctor is best for ongoing treatment, preventative care, health screenings, and care for chronic problems like asthma, diabetes, emphysema, cancer, and high blood pressure.

What About Follow-Up Care?

Additionally, and with your permission, we will send an electronic summary of your urgent care visit to your regular doctor within a few hours of your visit. We feel it is important to keep your primary care provider informed of any care you receive. We can also arrange for you to be seen by a specialist if needed.

What About Insurance?

We accept most major insurance plans, but coverage is not required to receive high-quality urgent medical care at ClearChoiceMD.

For those without insurance, we offer a competitive Prompt-Pay Program at all 21 locations throughout Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
